What is the DocSecBox?
The DocSecBox is a platform for the secure exchange of files. A company uses it to share documents with customers, partners and its own employees. You work in it in the browser, without installing anything.
Files, folders, groups
The DocSecBox is organised like the file system on a computer: files are kept in folders, and folders can contain further folders.
Your administrator decides who may see a folder. Usually this is done through a group: the members of a group see the folders assigned to that group. Other folders stay invisible to them. So whoever uploads a file into a folder also decides who can see it.
What you may do in a folder, such as viewing, uploading or deleting files, is governed by your permissions. You can look them up in your profile.
What the DocSecBox promises
The login page sums it up in four points:
| Promise | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Encrypted twice | Files are encrypted both while they are transferred and while they are stored. |
| Audit-proof | Every access and every change leaves a traceable record. |
| Access from anywhere | You work in the browser, at your desk or on the move. |
| GDPR-compliant | Personal data is handled in line with the General Data Protection Regulation. |
Tenants
One DocSecBox installation can serve several tenants, for example different customers or the companies of a group. A tenant is your company's area in the DocSecBox, with its own users, folders and settings. Tenants are kept separate from each other.
If your account belongs to several tenants, you choose the one to work in when you sign in.
How you get an account
Accounts are always created by your administrator. You cannot register yourself. Once your account exists, you usually receive an email with your username and a link for setting your password. What happens next is described under Login.
